The board members at Latrobe Valley Village are a dedicated group of volunteers committed to upholding our organisation’s mission and vision. The Board guides us in delivering exceptional care and maintaining our commitment to creating a positive and enriching environment for all residents. Their collective expertise in community and healthcare, business, and aged care services helps shape our strategic direction and ensures the highest standard of living for our residents.

Laurie Watters

Chair

About Laurie

Born in Gippsland, Laurie first taught in Primary Schools then served with the ADF Army Signals Corps in leadership positions. Laurie transitioned to public service in HR related roles, followed by line management positions in public housing, transport and education portfolios. Laurie joined the LVV Board in 2004 while working for VicSES in Emergency & Operations Management at the Regional HQ in Moe. Her position at VicSES entailed providing advice and assistance to all 6 Gippsland municipalities, the Gippsland Essential Industries Group, the Australian Moto GP Corporation and other emergency service organisations. During this time, she was appointed to the Public Administration and Community Safety Training Board as Deputy Chair then served as industry representative on the Local Government Industry Training Accreditation Board. After retiring back to her farm outside Benalla in 2009 Laurie joined the Mansfield District Hospital Board of Governance, serving on their Finance Committee while maintaining her commitments to LVV. Laurie returned to live in Gippsland in 2019. She chaired the Governance Committee and served as a member of the Strategic Committee before being appointed President of LVV in 2020.

Len Cairns

Chair of the Human Resources Committee Member of the Audit, Risk and Compliance committee and the Finance Committee.

About Len

Len has been a member of the LVV Board of Governance for the past 7 years. Len is an adjunct Associate professor at Monash University, previously being Associate Dean in the Faculty of Education. Len’s role involved consulting with Business and Industry in the areas of Management and Change, Executive Leadership and Resource Management. Previously, Len worked at the University of Sydney for 15 years and was a Psychological Counsellor in the NSW TAFE system for a decade. In recent years, Len has devoted his efforts to Community Work in Aged Care (with LVV), and also in Community Health as an elected Community member of the Board of the Latrobe Health Assembly. Len is a past President of the Rotary Club of Moe, a Rotary International “Paul Harris Fellow”. Len lives in Moe South and he has lived in the region for over 34 years.

Diane Wilkinson

About Diane

Diane has been a member of the LVV Board since November 2020. Diane has over 30 years’ experience working in management and administration in health and community services across Gippsland, including acute health, community health and women’s health sectors. Subsequent to these positions, Diane operated her business management consultancy from December 2011 until June 2021. Her experience includes business and strategic planning and development, governance systems and processes, health promotion, project management, policy and procedure development, quality management, process analysis and improvement.

Diane completed a Master of Public Health at Deakin University in 2013. Diane is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Diane is an active community member and has held various Board and community positions. She is currently Deputy Chair of the Committee of Management of Gippsland Rotary Centenary House, a Past President and Board member of the Rotary Club of Moe and a community member of the Latrobe Health Assembly.

Raye Beeching

Chair of the Communications Committee Member of the Clinical governance and Audit, Risk and Compliance committees.

About Raye

Raye has been a resident of Moe for more than 30 years. Raye has worked as RN in Unit Manager roles both in the UK and at Latrobe Valley Hospital prior to its closure.

Since completing a BA in Humanities and Social Science, Raye has worked in both Aged Care Home Care Package programs and Disability programs prior to the introduction of the NDIS. Her roles have been both in a Manager role with LCHS and more recently in a Case Manager role with Mercy Health Care. This is Raye’s first position on a Board of Directors.

Judy Redman

Chair of the Clinical Governance Committee Member of the Human Resource and Stakeholder Engagement / Communications Committees.

About Judy

Judy has lived and worked in Gippsland all her life, completing her general nursing training at the old Yallourn hospital in 1970 before transferring to the newly built Moe hospital in 1972. She was appointed Nurse Unit Manager of the Intensive Care Unit in 1980, a position which she held until the unit’s closure in 1994. She then took on the role of Nurse Unit Manager of the Emergency Department and high dependency units of Latrobe Regional Hospital in Moe.

In 1999, she was appointed Nurse Unit Manager of the High Dependency unit at Warragul Hospital until retiring in 2015. Since that time, she has continued to work casually at Maryvale Private Hospital until 2018. She also continues to work with Warragul Hospital. She joined the board of LVV 10 years ago.

Jenny Blain

About Jenny

Leaving Moe at age 18, Jenny graduated and started life in Melbourne as a secondary Science and Maths teacher. Her next career was being full-time parent to three sons for 7 years during which time she completed a Graduate Diploma in IT and later followed this with a Master of Business Systems. Jenny worked at Holmesglen Institute of Technology, teaching and establishing the industry software projects and later was appointed Head of the Computer Studies Department. After stints lecturing at Deakin, Monash and Australian Catholic universities, Jenny moved to multimedia and web systems development as General Manager Development at Multiemedia.com. Jenny’s products team developed the products which were the basis of the company’s listing on the ASX. Jenny started Ninox Solutions in 2000, designing and developing software solutions and system integrations.

Jenny spent one or two days a week in Moe with her parents up until her mother died in 2020. She volunteers on the Board in gratitude to the amazing team at LVV. Jenny is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Other volunteer positions include National President of Rostrum Australia, Committee member of Phoenix Park Neighbourhood House, Member of Lloyd Street Primary School Council.

Julian Yeatman

About Julian

Julian retired in 2011 after running his own business for 43 years and was invited by the LVV President of the Day to join the Latrobe Valley Board. He studied Accountancy and was a Moe City Councillor in the 1980s. For the last 46 years Julian has been a member of the Rotary Club of Moe (Paul Harris fellow 1998). He has held the treasurer position in various organisations in total for 30 years.
